SUMMARY:Oktoberfest 2024
DESCRIPTION:Our traditional social highlight of the year\, previously known as Los Baños Oktoberfest\, will be happening for the first time at our new house in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. Contrary to the original in Munich\, which starts end of September\, we will organize it on October 26 at our new home in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ). There will be German beer\, Wurst\, Sauerkraut\, Linsen und Spätzle and many more as well as genuine Blasmusik (no life band though). We will send more information soon. \nAccommodation\nWe have limited overnight space in our new house and we will have a visitor from Germany  during that time so our apartment is unfortunately already full. We thought about putting up tents in the garden\, but we have a monkey family as neighbors and don’t know what they would do with the tents\, and inhabitants who forgot to close the tent zipper because of the consumption of too much delicious Paulaner. But there are lots of affordable RBNBs actually in walking distance\, see below. There is also one hotel in Upper Cubi\, also walking distance\, And there are lots of overnight places in the other parts of the SBFZ. \nThere are many RBNBs in the neighborhood and also in other villages of the SBFZ. One example for 6 people for around US$ 70  is here. \nJust go to RBNB and search in “Upper Cubi Subic”. \nHotel in walking distance:\nEmerald Manor Hotel with large outdoor swimming pool: https://www.booking.com/hotel/ph/emerald-manor-subic.html \nPrice  for a double room around US$ 64 \nThere is also the pirate place Vasco’s\, around 10 min drive from us: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qm7K5n5Oecc \nAnd many other hotels in the more downtown area and some resorts at the beaches of the SBFZ. \nBeach Resorts in short driving distance\nThere are also some beach resorts in the Bay and a bit outside. The water close to Olongapo is not very clean\, so if you like to spend some time in the ocean\, we suggest to look for one of the resorts a bit more outside. \nA good overview on 25 resorts is here: \nOne resort about 10-15 minutes drive from our place is the Camayan Beach Resort.
