DESCRIPTION:The 2025 All Souls Regatta of the Puerto Galera Yacht Club was just announced to be on October 30 – September 2. \nAfter we failed to bring Magayon II to the 2024 All Souls Regatta because of a lack of wind and resulting empty batteries\, and also did not make it with our boat to the 2025 Easter Regatta – we were in the South Sea on Costa Rica that time\,  we definitely want to join the All Souls Regatta This Year on our own boat. \nWe will announce soon on what boat we will race. \nWe will be able to provide some slots for Crew. \nSome  videos from previous regattas and events you can fine here. \n  \n

SUMMARY:The Gummert's Oktoberfest 2025
DESCRIPTION:As every crisis free year since 2004 we are planning to have an Octoberfest\, this time again in our new residence in Subic. Last year it was a very small gathering because it was actually a crisis year. Unfortunately our Oktoberfest 2024 it was just a day after a typhoon had devastated Laguna\, so understandably many of our frequent Oktoberfest visitors had more important things to do than drink beer and enjoy German food. Let’s hope that the weather gods will be more supportive this year. \nFor a date\, this is not final yet\, but most likely it will be close to the dates of the Puerto Galera Yacht Club All Souls Regatta. So far we are aiming at Saturday\, October 25.

SUMMARY:Agritechnica Asia 2025 in Vietnam
DESCRIPTION:Agritechnica is the biggest agricultural machinery exhibition in the world. It is organised in Germany by the German Agricultural Society DLG. Since a few years there is Agritechnica Asia in Bangkok\, and Agritechnica Asia Live\, which is basically field days with action in the field. I helped DLG establishing those in Asia. The next Agritechnica Asia will be in the Ho Chi Minh City\, Vietnam in March 2025.

DESCRIPTION:The renovation of Magayon II is progressing well. Time to make new plans. We think it is a good idea to participate in a Puerto Galera Yacht Club regatta again\, for the fun\, and to stay connected with the PGYC crowd\, and because it looks like a nice travel project. This would be done in three phases and would take several days: \n\nAround four days from Subic to Puerto Galera. If we want to avoid using the motor add one day\, at least.\nThree days participating in the Regatta\, and keeping the tradition of winning alive!\nAround 4-5 days from Puerto Galera back to Subic.\n\n

SUMMARY:Oktoberfest 2024
DESCRIPTION:Our traditional social highlight of the year\, previously known as Los Baños Oktoberfest\, will be happening for the first time at our new house in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. Contrary to the original in Munich\, which starts end of September\, we will organize it on October 26 at our new home in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ). There will be German beer\, Wurst\, Sauerkraut\, Linsen und Spätzle and many more as well as genuine Blasmusik (no life band though). We will send more information soon. \nAccommodation\nWe have limited overnight space in our new house and we will have a visitor from Germany  during that time so our apartment is unfortunately already full. We thought about putting up tents in the garden\, but we have a monkey family as neighbors and don’t know what they would do with the tents\, and inhabitants who forgot to close the tent zipper because of the consumption of too much delicious Paulaner. But there are lots of affordable RBNBs actually in walking distance\, see below. There is also one hotel in Upper Cubi\, also walking distance\, And there are lots of overnight places in the other parts of the SBFZ. \nThere are many RBNBs in the neighborhood and also in other villages of the SBFZ. One example for 6 people for around US$ 70  is here. \nJust go to RBNB and search in “Upper Cubi Subic”. \nHotel in walking distance:\nEmerald Manor Hotel with large outdoor swimming pool: https://www.booking.com/hotel/ph/emerald-manor-subic.html \nPrice  for a double room around US$ 64 \nThere is also the pirate place Vasco’s\, around 10 min drive from us: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qm7K5n5Oecc \nAnd many other hotels in the more downtown area and some resorts at the beaches of the SBFZ. \nBeach Resorts in short driving distance\nThere are also some beach resorts in the Bay and a bit outside. The water close to Olongapo is not very clean\, so if you like to spend some time in the ocean\, we suggest to look for one of the resorts a bit more outside. \nA good overview on 25 resorts is here: \nOne resort about 10-15 minutes drive from our place is the Camayan Beach Resort.
