Just another day on cruise

April 5, 2025

The third leg from Arutanga Warf in Aitutaki, Cook Islands, to Palmerton, still Cook Islands.

One good thing is that since Gael and Aileen are now on board too and have practiced last night, our watches will be reduced to 1:45 hours from now on.

The whole day we had very little wind but high waves. So high that our Wharram Tiki 26 would have totally disappeared from sight when in between two waves. We are just riding on top moving slowly from the left to the right and back since they come from the side. Kotzkurs. Ideal for getting sea sick, luckily nobody does, except for Gael a little bit, when baking pancakes for breakfast..

I finished the inventory of the non-engine items.  In the process I stayed a bit too long in the super hot dungeon (the section of the boat hat is the workshop and laundry shop), drank too little and got an aura, the first sign of a migraine attack. Followed Miriam’s suggestion, I took a Paracetamol and went to bed immediately. After a short sleep I woke up without migraine. Nice. Maybe I discovered a new cure not relying on difficult to get migraine medication.

With only one engine and not much wind, so without sails, we did only make 4.5 knots on average today. Tomorrow the wind is supposed to come from the back again and increase. Hopefully we can do some sailing then. At the current speed we are scheduled to arrive in Palmerton around 6:00 pm tomorrow.

The autopilot leaks oil, so we are not using it at the moment. I wrote Emil for some advise.
